Dress Code

AJHSDRESS CODE POLICY

1. Clothing, hats, or accessories which advertise, display, promote, and/or suggest any drug, alcohol, tobacco, sexual activity, violence, obscenities, disrespect and/or bigotry are not allowed.
2. Clothing, hats, bandanas, do-rags, hairnets, or accessories that express gang membership, affiliation, or cause a student or staff member to feel insulted, demeaned, threatened, intimidated or harassed are not allowed.
3. Clothing, jewelry, or accessories that are a safety hazard including, but not limited to, spiked jewelry, excessive wallet chains, and excessive clothing straps are not allowed.
4. Clothing must cover the abdomen, chest/cleavage; back, genital areas, and buttocks area. When standing, tops must completely cover the midriff to the skirt, short, or pant waistline.
5. Straps of all shirts, tops, and dresses shall be at least 1½" wide and armholes are no lower than 2 inches from the armpit.
6. All undergarments must be covered.
7. No see-through clothing is allowed, unless the clothing underneath follows the dress code policy.
8. Dress, skirts, and shorts must be at mid-thigh in length or extend to the tip of the student’s fingers.
9. Sunglasses and hats are not permitted in the classroom unless for medical purposes.
10. Shoes must be worn at all times.

• First Offense: Student will change inappropriate clothing and parent will be notified.
• Second Offense: Parent will be notified and the student will be sent to on campus suspension or home for the rest of the day.
• Third Offense: Parent will be contacted and student will be suspended off campus pending a conference with an administrator.
